awe and wonder

In the evening I stand with the cattle on the steep slope. In the distance I see cumulus clouds building up. After this hot day, a heavy thunderstorm is brewing. I have to get down and to safety. During few minutes the storm is already developing extremely quickly, and I can hear a dark rumbling. I hurry down the slope, every step is a precise. I know the terrain. Just a few more meters. I have just reached the cabin when lightning strikes the tree directly in front of me. I rush inside and look for shelter. There is still hot water on the fire. I make myself some tea and lie down in bed. All I can do is wait. One flash after another, every second, lights up my room. The windows and the wood vibrate. I hope the cattle are OK. Awe and wonder go hand in hand.
